Synagogue of the Jewish Religious Association of Friedenau-Steglitz and the Southwestern Suburbs

This synagogue association was founded in 1911. Prior to moving to an apartment at 21 Stierstrasse, the congregation conducted services at 3 Homerstrasse, where there was also a Jewish school. The congregation’s newspaper (eight issues per year) had a circulation of 1,700 in the 1920s. The Stierstrasse synagogue’s last rabbi was Dr. Moritz Winter (1886-1971), who from 1922 until 1938 presided over a congregation that comprised Liberal and Orthodox members. The synagogue boasted a membership of 450 in 1933, an impressive number considering the limited size of the facilities. On Pogrom Night (November 1938), the interior of the prayer room was destroyed. The building now accommodates a dental lab.
